DBC Cycling Maps
In 2005-6, the Berkhamsted Cycling Group and Tring Cycling Campaign (as they were then) worked with Groundwork, an environmental regeneration charity, to produce comprehensive maps of cycle routes across Dacorum. The primary aim was to publish these maps to promote cycling in the borough. An important further purpose was to support the Dacorum Borough Council in finalising its cycling strategy. This strategy sets out the goals and means of achieving them that the council has decided on to support cycling, and this included more publicity for where one can cycle in the borough. The maps were delivered to DBC in mid-2006 after being produced by Groundwork. However, as of May 2009 the council has still not finalised its strategy, although a draft document can be found on their website:

This spring, TBCC requested permission from DBC to include the maps on our website and this has been obtained. They are now therefore available for anyone to use for personal reference, however should not be printed for general public distribution, or offered for sale. It should also be noted that the work to prepare these was completed in early 2006. Many of the main cycleways (particularly roads and the towpath) can be relied on for leisure use. However certain bridleways, for example in Ashridge, may not be in good condition for cyclists, unless you are a keen off-roader.
We would welcome any comments on the routes shown particular if you think the grading needs to be changed.
Go ride !
